Welbeck gets the game underway for Brighton!
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Premier League meeting between Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace at the Amex Stadium!
Palace have found themselves dragged into a relegation battle, as they sit just three points above the drop zone, and the pressure is starting to mount on Patrick Vieira. The Eagles are still yet to win a game in all competitions in 2023 (D5 L6) and have the new unwanted record of failing to register a shot on target in their last three Premier League outings. As for Brighton, they can close the gap to the European places once more. They've lost just one of their previous 11 matches in all competitions (W7 D3), but couldn't hold out for a win at the weekend, with Leeds United coming from behind twice to peg them back.
BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION STARTING XI (4-2-3-1): Jason Steele; Joel Veltman, Lewis Dunk, Levi Colwill, Pervis Estupinan; Pascal Gross, Moises Caicedo; Solly March, Alexis Mac Allister, Kaoru Mitoma; Danny Welbeck.
BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION SUBS: Deniz Undav, Robert Sanchez, Adam Webster, Julio Enciso, Evan Ferguson, Facundo Buonanotte, Jeremy Sarmiento, Billy Gilmour, Jan-Paul van Hecke.
CRYSTAL PALACE STARTING XI (4-3-3): Joseph Whitworth; Nathaniel Clyne, Joachim Andersen, Marc Guehi, Tyrick Mitchell; Albert Sambi Lokonga, Cheick Doucoure, Jeffrey Schlupp; Michael Olise, Odsonne Edouard, Wilfried Zaha.
CRYSTAL PALACE SUBS: Joel Ward, Chris Richards, Luka Milivojevic, Jordan Ayew, Eberechi Eze, Naouirou Ahamada, Jean-Philippe Mateta, James Tomkins, Owen Goodman.
The teams are out on the pitch now, with kick-off just moments away!
After a slow start, Brighton dominated the game, but De Zerbi was still a frustrated figure on the touchline as his side failed to capitalise on it. He'll be looking for them to put even more pressure on. Vieira will have been pleased by the start Palace made, but they struggled to make a mark after that. He'll be expecting much better after the break.
That's now 12 games without a win in all competitions in 2023 for Palace, who stay in 12th, just three points above the drop zone. It doesn't get any easier for them as they travel to league leaders Arsenal on Sunday. Brighton stay in seventh with that win, but they're now level on points with Liverpool with a game in hand. They host Grimsby Town in the FA Cup quarter-finals at the weekend.
