Martinez and Dzeko kick off for Inter, and we are underway at San Siro!
Second-placed Inter lead the five-strong pack of teams attempting to make up ground on runaway leaders Napoli, and currently sit 16 points behind Gil Azzurri with this their game in hand. The Nerazzuri’s form has been patchy so far this season, although they have won five of their last seven league games.
Milan are sixth in the table, and trail the ‘best of the rest’ behind Napoli. They’re on a wretched run of form at the moment, not winning any of their last four games and losing the last two 4-0 and 5-2 to Lazio and Sassuolo respectively, the latter coming at home. A Milan derby would be the perfect game to bounce back in though, and three points against Inter would see Milan climb to second in their place.
MILAN SUBS: Devis Vasquez, Antonio Mirante, Fode Ballo-Toure, Yacine Adli, Brahim Diaz, Ante Rebic, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Rafael Leao, Malick Thiaw, Tommaso Pobega, Aster Vranckx, Alexis Saelemaekers, Charles De Ketelaere.
MILAN (3-5-2): Ciprian Tatarusanu; Pierre Kalulu, Simon Kjaer, Matteo Gabbia; Davide Calabria, Junior Messias, Sandro Tonali, Rade Krunic, Theo Hernandez; Olivier Giroud, Divock Origi.
INTER SUBS: Samir Handanovic, Alex Cordaz, Denzel Dumfries, Roberto Gagliardini, Stefan de Vrij, Robin Gosens, Raoul Bellanova, Kristjan Asllani, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Valentin Carboni, Mattia Zanotti, Marcelo Brozovic, Romelu Lukaku.
INTER (3-5-2): Andre Onana; Milan Skriniar, Francesco Acerbi, Alessandro Bastoni; Matteo Darmian, Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Federico Dimarco; Edin Dzeko, Lautaro Martinez.
The teams head out onto the pitch, and the stage is set for the 178th Derby della Madonnina!
The teams return for the second half, and can Milan find anything within themselves, or from the bench, to try and get back into this game?
Three points to the blue-and-black half of Milan ensures they close the gap on Napoli's lead at the top of Serie A to just 13 points. It still looks an unassailable total to catch the leaders, but as things stand, Inter are better placed than any other side at the moment. Milan meanwhile, remain sixth, with an eight-point cushion ahead of seventh. However, if this poor run of form continues for much longer, the three sides within 10 points of the Rossoneri - Torino, Udinese and Bologna - could all catch up, to stake their own claims for European qualification.
That's all from us, we hope you enjoyed that Derby della Madonnina! Until the next game, goodbye!
