Hello and welcome to this live commentary for the Serie A fixture between Napoli and Juventus.
It's one versus two at the top of Serie A in this fixture. Napoli head into this encounter off the back of a 2-0 away win against Sampdoria. Luciano Spalletti's side lost their unbeaten league record with a 1-0 defeat to Inter in their first competitive game after the World Cup but have the chance to go 10 points clear at the top of the table with a win tonight.
Juventus are tasked with condemning the league leaders to just their second defeat of the season. After a poor start to the season, the Italian giants are unbeaten in eight consecutive Serie A games in a run that stretches back to November last year. Their last outing was a 1-0 victory over Udinese and a win tonight could see Massimiliano Allegri's side cut the gap at the top to just four points.
NAPOLI (4-3-3): Alex Meret; Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Kim Min-Jae, Amir Rrahmani, Mario Rui; Frank Anguissa, Stanislav Lobotka, Piotr Zielinski; Matteo Politano, Victor Osimhen, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
NAPOLI SUBS: Leo Ostigard, Bartosz Bereszynski, Hirving Lozano, Gianluca Gaetano, Karim Zedadka, Eljif Elmas, Giacomo Raspadori, Mathías Olivera, Alessio Zerbin, Giovanni Simeone, Davide Marfella, Salvatore Sirigu, Juan Jesus, Diego Demme, Tanguy Ndombele.
JUVENTUS (3-5-1-1): Wojciech Szczesny; Danilo, Bremer, Alex Sandro; Federico Chiesa, Weston McKennie, Manuel Locatelli, Adrien Rabiot, Filip Kostic; Angel Di Maria; Arkadiusz Milik.
Juventus have lost more matches against Napoli than any other side in Serie A (70) as well as conceding more goals against them than any other team in the competition (224) – however, the Partenopei have only lost one of their last five against the Bianconeri, after suffering four defeats in the previous five.
Spalletti will be frustrated that his Napoli side conceded so soon after taking a two-goal lead but they were the better side for large parts of that first half and still head into the second half ahead. Juventus will need to start the second half much the way they ended the first but will need to beware of the threat of the ever-dangerous Napoli attack as they try to push men forward to get another goal back in this game.
That is all for today - thank you for tuning in!
Next up for both sides is Coppa Italia fixtures with Napoli home against Cremonese and Juventus facing Monza.
