Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Premier League meeting between Tottenham and Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium!
Spurs are looking to make a good start to the new year as they aim to leapfrog Manchester United back into the top four. They've won just two of their last six league games (D1 L3) and had to come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Brentford in their last outing. As for Villa, they won their first two Premier League matches under Unai Emery before the World Cup break, but suffered their first defeat in the competition on their return with a 3-1 loss to Liverpool on Monday.
TOTTENHAM STARTING XI (3-4-2-1): Hugo Lloris; Clement Lenglet, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies; Matt Doherty, Yves Bissouma, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Ivan Perisic; Bryan Gil, Son Heung-Min; Harry Kane.
TOTTENHAM SUBS: Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, Ryan Sessegnon, Japhet Tanganga, Oliver Skipp, Djed Spence, Emerson, Fraser Forster, Pape Sarr.
ASTON VILLA STARTING XI (4-4-2): Robin Olsen; Ashley Young, Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings, Lucas Digne; John McGinn, Boubacar Kamara, Douglas Luiz, Emiliano Buendia; Leon Bailey, Ollie Watkins.
ASTON VILLA SUBS: Morgan Sanson, Ludwig Augustinsson, Jan Bednarek, Matthew Cash, Philippe Coutinho, Danny Ings, Emiliano Martinez, Cameron Archer, Calum Chambers.
The teams are out on the pitch now, and there will be a minute's applause before kick-off in remembrance of Pele.
Emery will be the happier of the two managers at the break. Apart from the Kane header, his side kept Spurs quiet and defended their box strongly. He'll be hoping they can take their chances at the other end, though. Conte's team were frustrated in the first half, and he might be thinking about changes to try and open up Villa's compact shape.
That's all for today, goodbye!
Villa stay in 12th, but they've closed the gap to the teams just above them in the table. Next up for them is Wolves on Wednesday. Spurs stay in fifth after missing the chance to leapfrog Manchester United back into the top four. They travel to Crystal Palace next time out.
