Hello and welcome to the live commentary of the World Cup fixture between South Korea and Portugal.
South Korea are currently third in Group H with only one point to their name. A 3-2 defeat to Ghana means that Paulo Bento’s side must win today and hope Ghana drop points against Uruguay in the other game in the group. Cho Gue-sung scored twice in their last match and is their only goalscorer in the tournament.
Portugal are already through to knockout rounds after wins over both Ghana and Uruguay. Bruno Fernandes scored twice against Uruguay last time out after picking up two assists against Ghana in Portugal’s opener. He has been one of the standout players for Fernando Santos. Nuno Mendes is likely to miss the rest of the tournament after picking up a thigh injury in the last game.
South Korea (4-2-3-1): Kim Seung-gyu; Kim Moon-hwan, Kwon Kyung-won, Kim Young-gwon, Kim Jin-su; Jung Woo-young, Hwang In-beom; Lee Kang-in, Lee Jae-sung, Son Heung-min; Cho Gue-sung.
SUBS: Song Bum-keun, Jo Hyeon-woo, Yoon Jong-gyu, Kim Min-jae, Paik Seung-ho, Hwang Hee-chan, Son Jun-ho, Hong Chul, Hwang Ui-jo, Na Sang-ho, Kwon Chang-hoon, Kim Tae-hwan, Cho Yu-min, Jeong Woo-yeong, Song Min-kyu.
SUBS: Rui Patricio, Jose Sa, Ruben Dias, Raphael Guerreiro, Joao Palhinha, Bruno Fernandes, Andre Silva, Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix, William Carvalho, Rafael Leao, Goncalo Ramos.
The players are coming out of the tunnel and onto the pitch!
The wide areas have been key for both teams so far in this game. Dalot and Cancelo are trying to stretch the South Korea defence while Cho is the aerial target that Bento's side are trying to utilise. South Korea will need to attack with more pace sooner rather than later if they want to reach the next stage.
The win means South Korea finish second in Group H and will face the winners of Group G, who will most likely be Brazil. Portugal remain top of the group despite the loss and will face the runners-up in Group G, which could be still be all four teams in the group.
