We're underway at Camp Nou.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of LaLiga clash between Barcelona and Valencia at Camp Nou.
Barcelona have made up vital ground in LaLiga with back-to-back victories over the last week. Lionel Messi scored the only goal of the game to overcome Levante. Barca were then required to come from behind to defeat Real Sociedad, and were able to pull off a vital win courtesy of goals from Jordi Alba and Frenkie de Jong. The challenges keep on coming for Ronald Koeman's men, but another victory would put them in contention at the top of the table.
VALENCIA (4-4-2): Jaume Domenech; Daniel Wass, Gabriel Paulista, Mouctar Diakhaby, Jose Gaya; Yunus Musah, Carlos Soler, Uros Racic, Denis Cheryshev; Goncalo Guedes, Maxi Gomez.
BARCELONA (4-1-4-1): Marc-Andre ter Stegen; Sergino Dest, Oscar Mingueza, Ronald Araujo, Jordi Alba; Sergio Busquets; Antoine Griezmann, Pedri, Philippe Coutinho; Martin Braithwaite; Lionel Messi.
Valencia required a heroic late comeback to beat third division Terrassa during the week in the Copa del Rey. Javi Gracia's men were trailing 2-0 with 10 minutes to play after being reduced to 10 men, but goals from Carlos Soler and Yunus Musah forced extra-time before Goncalo Guedes notched a brace to send them through. The club are winless in their last four LaLiga matches since beating Real Madrid at the beginning of November. Valencia sit 14th in the table to begin the afternoon and need to find their form to distance themselves from the relegation zone.
BARCELONA SUBS: Carles Alena, Miralem Pjanic, Riqui Puig, Neto, Clement Lenglet, Trincao, Matheus Fernandes, Frenkie de Jong, Samuel Umtiti, Junior Firpo, Konrad De la Fuente, Arnau Tenas.
VALENCIA SUBS: Thierry Correia, Eliaquim Mangala, Ruben Sobrino, Lee Kang-In, Manu Vallejo, Jason, Cristian Rivero, Vicente Esquerdo, Koba Koindredi, Guillem Molina, Alex Blanco, Unai Etxebarria.
Javi Gracia will feel that his side should be ahead. They had multiple chances in the first half, and although they converted one, it's never going to be enough against Messi. The visitors have to get up and go again in the second half.
Barcelona are next in action against Real Valladolid on Tuesday on the road, while Valencia take on Sevilla at home on the same day.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
