We're underway at Turf Moor.
Burnley have found their form in the Premier League at the right time. Sean Dyche's men were languishing in the relegation zone after a run of only one win in 12 matches. However, they've reeled off back-to-back victories in the top flight over West Ham and Huddersfield along with their FA Cup triumph over Barnsley. Another victory this afternoon against Fulham would provide further distance between the Clarets and the bottom three.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Burnley and Fulham at Turf Moor.
Fulham are in a world of trouble sitting in 19th place in the Premier League, four points adrift of safety. Claudio Ranieri's men have won only one of their last eight matches, including their 4-1 hammering at the hands of Arsenal last time out in the top flight. The Cottagers crashed out of the FA Cup last week at the hands of Oldham Athletic on home soil. Although the club can now prioritise the Premier League, the loss to the League Two outfit will have further affected their confidence.
BURNLEY (4-4-2): Tom Heaton; Phil Bardsley, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Charlie Taylor; Jeff Hendrick, Jack Cork, Ashley Westwood, Dwight McNeil; Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes.
Burnley subs: Matt Lowton, Sam Vokes, Ben Gibson, Steven Defour, Joe Hart, Matej Vydra, Kevin Long.
FULHAM (3-4-3): Sergio Rico; Denis Odoi, Tim Ream, Maxime Le Marchand; Cyrus Christie, Calum Chambers, Jean Michael Seri, Joe Bryan; Andre Schurrle, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Ryan Sessegnon.
Fulham subs: Marcus Bettinelli, Neeskens Kebano, Tom Cairney, Floyd Ayite, Luciano Vietto, Steven Sessegnon, Ibrahima Cisse.
Burnley lead Fulham 2-1 at the break courtesy of two own goals from the visitors at Turf Moor. The Cottagers took the lead through a special strike from Andre Schurrle in the second minute as the German rifled his effort into the top corner. However, the home side responded and Jeff Hendrick's blast was turned into his own net by Joe Bryan. Denis Odoi then handed the Clarets the lead when he headed Hendrick's cutback beyond Sergio Rico in a frenetic three-minute spell for Claudio Ranieri's men.
It has been a strange game at Turf Moor between the two struggling sides. Neither have been able to defend with confidence, although Burnley have been slightly better in that aspect given that they haven't presented their opponents with two goals. However, Sean Dyche will not feel comfortable with a one-goal lead, especially considering the talent that Fulham have in the final third. Expect more goals to come.
Burnley are on the road to Watford next week in the Premier League, while Fulham host Tottenham next Sunday.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
